Dear Parents and Carers,
Well, we are definitely in the midst of a Canberra Winter! The photos attached tell the story. For the first time in a few years, we actually closed the playground this week as, after the rain, and freezing overnight temperatures there were multiple patches of black ice.
Thumbs up to all our parents/carers who do an early morning session of Winter Sport on a weekend. If you have any children participating in the Kanga Cup 14-18 July, I wish you the very best and hope that at least if the temperatures drop the sky will be clear and blue!
A huge congratulations to Adeline B for representing St Michael’s at the Rostrum Finals in Florey last night. Adeline shared her speech at the Rainbow Awards Assembly last week and is a true leader in our school, we are very proud of you!
Congratulations to all our students for their wonderful participation in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Feast Day activities both at St Michael’s and St Monica’s. Thanks to Erika Tokich and Melanie Stratford who organised the days including treats for the students. I am so grateful to our wonderful staff for their hard work, passion and dedication. Staff go above and beyond in the support of every student at St Michael’s.
Thank you to all our families who’ve joined us for assemblies, carnivals, interviews, the Book Fair and many special events over the term. The children love seeing family members at school events and we certainly love the support!
My best wishes to everyone over the Winter break, for warm memories, safe travel and sleep ins.
Many Blessings,
Judy Egan
Principal

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Feast Day
Last Friday, our school community joyfully celebrated the Feast Day of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, the patron saint of our parish.
Year 5 and 6 students travelled to St Monica’s in Evatt, where they joined with students to celebrate Mass, take part in a range of engaging activities, and share morning tea together.
Back at school, Kindergarten to Year 4 students participated in a class liturgy, followed by multi-age rotational activities that helped deepen their understanding of Mary and her special place in our faith.
It was a meaningful day of prayer, learning and celebration, as we came together to honour Our Lady of Perpetual Help and reflect on her example of love and compassion.

Sacrament of Eucharist
If you have issues or questions please contact the Parish at sc.belconnennorth@cg.org.au or speak to the school’s Religious Education Coordinator.

Book Week Celebrations at St Michael’s – Save the Date
The 2025 CBCA Children’s Book Week will be celebrated from 16 -23 August with this year’s theme, ‘Book an Adventure.’ The highlight of the week is our dress up day and parade, which will take place on Monday 19 August. We are also looking forward to a performance from Meerkat Productions based on the adaptation of two CBCA shortlisted books. Library classes will participate in lessons based on this year’s shortlisted picture books and young reader’s novels as we try to guess who will be awarded best in their category. We can’t wait to see everyone’s costumes and creativity on display for our parade!

Boorowa Touch Football and Netball Carnival

Students from Years 3-6 are eligible to participate in ONE of the sports/teams. Information and consent will be send out via Compass shortly. Please note that Boorowa is 1.5hrs from Canberra and families are required to organise their own transport to and from the event. We look forward to entering as many teams as possible and thank you for being willing to commit to the event so far ahead of time.
Belconnen Region Athletics
The Belconnen Region Athletics Championships will be held on 19 August at the AIS. The 2025 St Michael's team has been announced and permissions are now available on Compass.
